Justin Blackmon Joining Cowboys’ Ring of Honor
Blackmon will be the sixth Cowboy to have his name immortalized inside BPS.
Arguably the best wide receiver college football has ever seen will be the next Cowboy to be immortalized in Boone Pickens Stadium.
Oklahoma State on Thursday announced that Justin Blackmon would be the sixth member in the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor, joining Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders, Bob Fenimore, Terry Miller and Leslie O’Neal. Blackmon’s name will go up in BPS on Nov. 15 when OSU hosts Kansas State.
Blackmon won two Biletnikoff awards — given to the best receiver in college football. The only other player to win the award twice was Michael Crabtree.
In 2010, he racked up 1,782 receiving yards setting an NCAA sophomore record, the most ever at Oklahoma State. His 20 receiving touchdowns led the FBS. In 2011, he added 1,522 receiving yards and led the Big 12 in catches (122) and TDs (18). He remains among the Top 3 in school history in career receiving yards (3.564), catches (253) and receiving TDs (40).
He was the driving force of the Cowboys’ offense over that went 23-3 over that two-year stretch and earned MVP over the 2010 Alamo Bowl and the 2012 Fiesta Bowl. Blackmon was selected No. 5 overall in the NFL Draft in 2012.
