OSU Baseball: Cowboys Swept in Lawrence
OSU is 1-6 in Big 12 play.
The Cowboys rough start to Big 12 play continued Sunday in Lawrence.
Oklahoma State lost to Kansas 11-2, finishing off a series sweep for the Jayhawks. The Pokes scored the first run of the game and held a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning, but things quickly went downhill from there.
The Jayhawks scored two in the fourth off a Michael Brooks home run that gave KU a 3-2 lead.
Kansas added five runs in the fifth inning. A walk and back-to-back singles ended Drew Blake’s outing on the mound. Brennan Phillips entered with the bases loaded and walked in a run. Noah Wech then came in from the bullpen. He closed out the inning, but it wasn’t pretty. An infield single scored a run before a flyout finally put an out on the board. Wech then walked in a run before the Cowboys attempted to turn an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play, but they were unable to get the out at first and two more runs scored, making it 8-2 Jayhawks before OSU was finally able to get out of the inning.

Kansas’ unneeded insurance runs came in the seventh and eighth innings.
The Cowboys managed just one hit after Colin Brueggemann’s leadoff home run to start the fourth inning. They finished the day 5-for-31 at the plate.

OSU’s other run came in the first inning when Kollin Ritchie had a sacrifice fly that scored Nolan Schubart.
The Cowboys used five pitchers Sunday with all of them giving up at least one run.
OSU is 1-6 in Big 12 play. The Cowboys will get a break from conference action with a game against Missouri State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Springfield before returning home to host Kansas State in a three-game series next weekend.
