Class of 2026 Receiver Jabarie Thornton Commits to Oklahoma State
OSU gets a talented receiver from Waco.
The Cowboys’ 2026 recruiting class picked up another weapon on Monday with the commitment of wide receiver Jabarie Thornton.
Out of La Vega High in Waco, Texas, Thornton is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports, which has him tabbed as the No. 189 wide receiver in the class and the No. 158 player in Texas. Listed at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, Thornton committed to Oklahoma State over reported offers from Nebraska, Arkansas, Oregon, Ole Miss, Tulsa and others.

OSU’s new staff worked quickly to secure Thornton’s commitment, as he announced his OSU offer on Feb. 4 — the latest offer he has announced.
As a junior at La Vega in 2024, Thornton caught 76 passes for 1,367 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had two rushing scores. He eclipsed 100 receiving yards six times as a junior, including a game against La Grange that saw Thornton catch five passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns.
He also competes on the La Vega track team, where he recorded a 22.99 200-meter dash this spring and a 20-8.5 mark on the long jump, according to MileSplit.
Thornton is the eighth pledge to the Pokes’ 2026 class and the first receiver to join the fold. He makes it three Texans in the class, joining edge rusher Jaylen Stewart (Pearland) and cornerback Josiah Vilmael (Richmond). Thornton is also the third offensive piece in the Cowboys’ class along with running back Kaydin Jones (Jenks) and offensive lineman Aiden Martin (Berryhill).
OSU’s 2026 class ranks 33rd nationally in 247Sports’ rankings, a mark that is good for eighth in the Big 12. In terms of the average rating of each commitment, the Cowboys rank fifth in the Big 12. That’s probably a safer metric to look at recruiting classes by, given teams are taking less high schoolers because of the transfer portal.
