Williams, Pearson Two of Many to Enter Portal Post Scrimmage

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State coaches remain aggressive in the portal based on the flurry of additions the Cowboys have brought in this week, but with an impending roster cut, some players have to leave.

From a potential standpoint, Oklahoma State safety Ty Williams might be the biggest non-quarterback loss for OSU this week. Williams arrived in Stillwater in 2021 as a four-star safety, ranked 18th at his position by 247Sports. He played in 34 games in his career, mostly on special teams, and finished with 26 total tackles.

From a production standpoint, this week’s biggest loss came on special teams as the Cowboys’ top return man, Kyler Pearson, also entered the transfer portal. Pearson started his college career on scholarship at Kansas before later walking on at OSU in 2023. In the fall, Pearson gave former OSU receiver Brennan Presley a much-needed break on special teams. Pearson ended the season with a team-high 24 total returns, averaging 17.3 on kicks and 7.7 on punts. He also caught one pass for 7 yards.

Below are nine other Cowboys who entered the portal this week:

LB Jonathan Agumadu

Redshirt freshman ranked as the No. 55th linebacker by Rivals coming out of high school. He chose Oklahoma State over reported offers from Missouri and SMU, among others. Agumadu played in the final four games in 2024 but didn’t record any stats.

TE Jordan Owens

Was the third portal addition this cycle. Owens spent the first three seasons at Central Arkansas. He finished with 19 receptions for 166 yards and two touchdowns in 2024. He was not one of the four tight ends listed on the Orange and White rosters during Saturday’s scrimmage.

OL Chauncey Johnson

A member of OSU’s 2024 recruiting class, Johnson redshirted last season without seeing any game action.

LB Chance Clements

The son of former Oklahoma State assistant Joe Bob Clements played in every game in 2024, recording two tackles while serving primarily as a special teams player.

LB Yamil Talib

A nephew of former NFL corner Aqib Talib, Yamil walked on at OSU last season. He played against TCU this past season.

DT Jaelen Tucker

Walk-on defensive tackle from Edmond Santa Fe, who didn’t see playing time in his first three years. But he leaves with quite the endorsement from his position coach.

Redshirt sophomore walk-on linebacker who didn’t record a stat in his only appearance (against Arizona State in 2024).

LB Talon Kendrick

Redshirt freshman walk-on from Stillwater who didn’t see the field in his first season.

K David Arriaga

Walk-on redshirt freshman kicker from Stratford.
