OSU Softball: Edwards, Wark Among Group of Cowgirls to Hit Transfer Portal
A pair of starters hit the portal.
Days removed from the end of the Cowgirls’ season, a pair of key contributors from the past few seasons announced they’ll look to play elsewhere in 2026.
Tallen Edwards and Micaela Wark both took to X to announce they are portal-bound. The Oklahoman‘s Scott Wright also reported that Taylor Anderson and freshman Tara Vandewater entered the portal.
Edwards enrolled early at Oklahoma State, forgoing her senior year at Southmoore High School to do so. The 2025 season was Edwards’ third in Stillwater. The Cowgirls’ third baseman hit .282 with three home runs and 18 RBIs.
In her three seasons combined, Edwards hit .304 with 111 runs scored and 74 RBIs. For context, 111 runs scored puts her inside the top 20 all-time at OSU, and she sits just outside the top 25 in other key stats.
“I’d also like to thank my teammates and coaching staff for an amazing three years full of laughter, love, and unity,” Edwards wrote in her announcement. “The bonds we’ve created and memories we’ve shared will forever hold a special place in my heart.
“After much thought and prayer, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal. This decision wasn’t made lightly, but I believe there’s more waiting for me.”
Wark transferred to OSU from Kansas ahead of the 2023 season. She has dealt with knee injuries throughout her career, which has meant she often served as OSU’s designated player.
She hit .241 in 2025 with eight home runs and 18 RBIs. In 421 career at-bats with the Cowgirls, Wark hit .283 with 29 homers and 99 RBIs. This season’s performance moved Wark into a three-way tie for sixth-place in all-time OSU home runs.
Vandewater was the No. 10 recruit in Extra Innings Softball’s Elite 100 for the 2025 class. She appeared in 20 games this season but took just four at-bats, primarily being used as a pinch runner. She crossed the plate eight times.
Anderson was a freshman in 2024 but wasn’t on OSU’s roster this past season. She played in 43 games in 2024, hitting .250 in 16 at-bats.
It hasn’t been all bad for the Cowgirls as it pertains to the portal in the fallout of the season. Ace pitcher Ruby Meylan took to social media Monday to announce she had “unfinished business” to take care of and that for the rest of her life she promises to “give Stillwater, Oklahoma State and Cowgirl Softball everything” she has left.
