Six-Time World Champion Jordan Burroughs Runs Cowboy RTC Practice
A benefit of having a recent world champion running a wrestling program is he knows other world champions.
Jordan Burroughs, a six-time world champion and 2012 Olympic gold medalist, ran a Cowboy RTC practice, with the RTC posting a video to social media to social media.

For the uninitiated, Burroughs wrestled at Nebraska, winning two national titles and three Big 12 titles before a freestyle career that perhaps is the only one to rival John Smith’s in the United States.
Burroughs primarily wrestled at 74 kg but also won two world titles at 79 kg. The video shows a few instances of Burroughs working with incoming OSU freshman LaDarion Lockett. Lockett won the U20 U.S. Open last month at 74 kg before earning senior gold at the Pan American Championships — the same Pan American Championships that Burroughs won six times (four at 74 kg and two at 79 kg).
Taylor spent much of his freestyle career at a heavier weight than Burroughs, but the two had a some battles on the mat. Burroughs beat Taylor in the U.S. Open in 2013 and 2014 at 74 kg. More recently, Taylor got the better of Burroughs in 2021 at 86 kg in a Flo event.
Between the two of them, they have nine World Championship gold medals and two Olympic gold medals. Not a bad tandem to learn from for the Cowboys.
