After a rough start to Saturday, Viktor Hovland rebounded to put himself within reach of his first career major championship.

The former Cowboy came into Saturday -1. After an even par third round at the U.S. Open, he’s just three shots back heading into Sunday at Oakmont Country Club.

Hovland bogeyed on holes 1 and 3 but was able to lock in. He had back-to-back birdies on 9 and 10 to pull back within fourth place.

Then, after landing in the rough on 17, he nailed this insane shot to set up another birdie.

But Hovland didn’t rest on his laurels after a nice bounce-back.

Hovland will be paired with J.J. Spaun (T2nd) in the penultimate group, which tees off at 1:04 p.m. (Central).

There are seven players within six shots of the leader, Sam Burns (-4). Adam Scott and Spaun are tied for second at -3.

Hovland’s has three Top 10 Major finishes, T7th at the 2023 Masters, T2 at the 2023 PGA Championship and T4th at The Open Championship in 2022.
