After what has felt like one of the longer recruitments in OSU history, Jalen Montonati is set to make his college decision on Thursday.

Oklahoma State’s pursuit of Montonati goes back to when Mike Boynton offered the son of former OSU player Brian Montonati back in September of 2022 — Jalen’s freshman year at Owasso High School. Second-year OSU coach Steve Lutz has continued that pursuit on the Cowboys’ behalf — going as far as to reportedly visit Montonati at midnight on the first day of the recruiting period.

Montonati is scheduled to be in Stillwater this weekend for his official visit, as he recently moved that date up after originally scheduling it for mid-October.

Listed at 6-foot-7, Montonati is the No. 58 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2026 class. Along with his longstanding offer to OSU, he’s announced offers to Kansas, Michigan, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana and others.

Montonati is the state’s top prospect. In the past 10 years, only three Oklahomans have had a higher 247Sports Composite rating than Montonati: Bryce Thompson, Trae Young and Brandon Garrison.

Montonati averaged 15.8 points, two rebounds and 2.8 assists a game at Peach Jam this summer while shooting 38% from 3. He also led Owasso to its first state title in 2024 and has won a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championships, an event he shot 41% from 3 at.
