Daily Bullets (Dec. 4): Signing Day: Some Old Recruits Back, Some North Texas Pledges

OSU Bullets

• Signing day recap here – of note, the Pokes flipped a Baylor commit, landed a quarterback, and brought a Tulsa running back back into the fold (PFB)

• Cowgirl Basketball took out North Texas last night, 73-55 (OKState.com)

• This was ultimately the route Eric Morris and Co. took on Signing Day: 

Of OSU’s 15 signees seven were committed to Morris at North Texas.

Others had been offers by Morris and UNT before committing elsewhere. That tells me that Morris and his staff stuck to their guns on evaluations rather than chasing recruiting ranking numbers to try to fill. [PFB]

• Props to the current Cowboy Football squad for not finishing as college football’s worst squad in the middle of hard times.

Oklahoma State’s plummet over the past two years is truly one of the most remarkable falls in college football history. The Cowboys went from playing in the 2023 Big 12 Championship Game to going winless in conference play over the past two seasons. But give the 2025 Cowboys some credit for turning a corner over the season’s final three weeks. Sure, they kept losing, but they turned a never-ending series of blowout defeats into one-score losses against Kansas State, UCF and Iowa State. [CBS Sports]

• OSU’s newest quarterback signee talked about what it was like to be in transition as a North Texas signee with a coach on the move (PFB)

• Interesting Big 12 note – K-State coach Chris Kleiman retired yesterday, Collin Klein (a previous OSU candidate) was named his successor (CBS Sports)

•  What a deal for the Pokes to start 8-0 for the first time in nearly 20 years: 

Oklahoma State has quietly gotten off to an 8-0 start in Year 2 under Steve Lutz.

It’s the best start for the program since opening the 2006-07 season at 11-0.

OSU’s offense has put up 85-plus points in eight straight games – the longest such streak in school history.
