Report: Morris Reunites With Former Staffer Fresh off Power Conference Job
Ethan Russo worked at Wisconsin this season but had spent time with Morris at UNT before that.
It’s no secret that Eric Morris isn’t the only one leaving North Texas for Oklahoma State, but he also plans to reunite with a former staffer who spent the season working with a Power Four program.
CBS Sports senior reporter Matt Zenitz reported on X that Wisconsin director of player personnel Ethan Russo is joining Morris in Stillwater as the Cowboys’ executive director of player personnel.
For what it’s worth, the Badgers do not appear to have an executive director position at all, suggesting the move could be more about working for Morris at OSU than a desire to chase a promotion.
Russo previously worked with Morris at UNT as the assistant director of player personnel in 2023.
He got his start in athletics as a student manager at TCU in 2015, working primarily with safeties and special teams. He then charted prospects’ film for the Cleveland Browns for two seasons before joining Rice as a recruiting analyst.
His first big job appears to have come during a three-year stint at Utah, which saw him reach the role of assistant director of player personnel. He then left that role for a director role at UNLV in 2022.
