OSU Hoops: Robert Jennings II Out for Rest of Season
The Cowboys will be without their vet.
OSU will be without its most tenured Cowboy, at least on the court.
Robert Jennings II will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season with a lingering hip injury. Jennings, who has been out for over a month, issued a statement via X.
“First off, thank you to the fans, the coaching staff, and my teammates for supporting me to the fullest, on and off the court. That love means a lot and never goes unnoticed.
“With that being said, due to an injury, I’ll be medically redshirting the rest of the season. It hurts not being able to compete, but the goal hasn’t changed. I’m embracing the grind, trusting the process and looking forward to being back out there at 100% next year. #GoPokes”
Cowboys head coach Steve Lutz gave a little more context.
“It’s incredibly disappointing for Rob because of how hard he’s worked to get himself back on the court,” Lutz said in a release from OSU. “He had surgery in the offseason to correct an issue with his hip, but unfortunately, it hasn’t responded the way we had hoped.
“After consulting with our medical staff, we’ve decided to shut him down for the season with the goal of getting him back to full strength. We’re certainly going to miss him on the floor, but Rob will continue to lead and support this team in a big way behind the scenes.”
After two seasons at Texas Tech, Jennings transferred to Oklahoma State ahead of the 2024-25 season in which he averaged 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 16.5 minutes. Jennings appeared in just three games this season, averaging four points and four boards in 13 minutes.
