NFL Playoff Picture: Which Former Cowboys Are Headed to the Playoffs
There will be a lot of Oklahoma State representation this postseason.
We’re entering the final week of the NFL’s regular season, and several former Cowboys are looking forward to playoff football.
Let’s take a look around the league at Oklahoma State alums whose teams have either clenched a playoff berth or are still in the hunt heading into the final week.
Who’s In
Nick Martin (San Francisco 49ers)
The oft-injured Niners rebounded from a midseason slump by rattling off six-straight wins. If they can end it with a seventh against the Seahawks, they’ll secure homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
Martin showed some nice things in his rookie season, recording 11 total tackles but was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 20 due to a concussion. He has been out since suffering a concussion against Cleveland on Nov. 30, so his four games out would end on Saturday. If San Francisco has a sustained playoff run, Martin could potentially return for the postseason if healthy.
Emmanuel Ogbah (Jacksonville Jaguars)
The Jaguars have clenched a playoff spot with a 12-4 record, which is best in the AFC South. In his first year with the team, Ogbah has a 0.5 sack, 15 total tackles, two tackles for loss and four QB hits.
Amen Ogbongbemiga (Chicago Bears)
The Bears, at 11-5, are the current 2 seed in the NFC and are coming off a heart-breaking 42-38 loss to San Francisco. In his second year in Chicago, Obgongbemiga has 17 total tackles (five solo) and a pass defended.
Brennan Presley (Los Angeles Rams)
The Rams currently sit as the NFC’s 6 seed. They’ll finish their season with a visit from the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Presley has seen the field in one game as a rookie so far, recording no stats.
Collin Oliver (Green Bay Packers)
The Packers are the 7 seed in the NFC. Oliver has not seen the field as his rookie season was filled with injury updates, but he was activated from injured reserve Dec. 22.
Who’s In the Hunt
Chuba Hubbard (Carolina Panthers)
If the season ended today, the Panthers would be the last team in for the NFC. Hubbard had a 1,195-yard, 10-touchdown career year last season, but after an early season injury gave Rico Dowdle the chance to earn RB1 carries, Hubbard sits at just 501 yards and one score heading into the final week.
Jaylen Warren/Mason Rudolph/Tre Flowers (Pittsburgh Steelers)
Likewise, the Steelers are currently in the eighth and final spot for the AFC. Despite a disappointing loss to the Browns, the 9-7 Steelers are still first in the AFC North and finish up against the No. 2 team Baltimore.
Warren has been one of the anchors of an offense that’s been up and down. Rudolph has spelled the aging Aaron Rodgers in five games this season, losing his lone start but leading the Steelers to a win over Cincinnati. As always, he’s one play away from running the offense.
Justice Hill/Tylan Wallace (Baltimore Ravens)
Two potential playoff teams will enter Acrisure Stadium, one will leave. This matchup between the Ravens and Steelers in Pittsburgh is winner-take-all division championship with that automative playoff berth as its prize. Hill has been sidelined the past month with a neck injury, but Ravens head coach John Harbaugh seemed confident that he’d return by this weekend when asked on Dec. 19.
