The Cowboys will get the chance to impress a talented and productive defensive back from the Power Four.

Dante Lovett Jr., a Virginia Tech cornerback transfer, is expected to make a visit to Oklahoma State, according to On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos.

The 6-foot, 200-pound cornerback spent three seasons with the Hokies, entering the transfer portal after the midseason firing of head coach Brent Pry (who was then hired as the Hokies’ DC). Since he appeared in only three games and had yet to use a redshirt, Lovett is a junior with two years of eligibility remaining.

Prior to that, Lovett appeared in all 26 of the Hokies’ games in 2023 and 2024. As a freshman he logged 10 tackles, a 0.5 tackle for loss, three pass breakups and forced a fumble. As a sophomore, Lovett racked up 20 tackles, four passes defended and an interception. In his three games in 2025, he logged six tackles.

Lovett is a three-star prospect, according to 247 Sports and On3, and also has visited or scheduled visits with California, Memphis, Boise State and Syracuse.

He was the No. 880 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2023 recruiting class. Out of Maryland, Lovett chose Virginia Tech over offers from Maryland, Boston College, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Pitt and others.
