Hoops Preview: TV Info, Team Stats and Projected Lineups before the Cowgirls Host No. 19 Iowa State
The Cowgirls and Cyclones are on opposite trajectories.
The Cowgirls (15-4, 4-2) are coming off consecutive wins and looking to make it a streak. They defeated Kansas on the road on Wednesday night and are now part of a three-way tie for third place in the Big 12. Meanwhile, the Cyclones (14-4, 2-4), who were picked to finish No. 2 in the league in October, are on the other kind of streak.
Trending Up 📈: After a down (to her standards) nonconference slate by Stailee Heard, the Cowgirls’ leading scorer from last year seems to have finally turned in on for conference play. She has scored 20 or more points the last three games and the Cowgirls have seen immediate results, stacking up back-to-back wins for the first time in conference.
Trending Down 📉: The Cyclones have lost four-straight and figure to continue to drop in the polls. Iowa State has been without its second-best player Addy Brown (out indefinitely) the last three games which has allowed teams to load up on Audi Crooks, the nation’s leading scorer the last two seasons.
Crooks is still putting up big numbers, but they’ve definitely taken a hit without her fellow big. Crooks was averaging 29.1 ppg when Brown went out and that has dropped to 20.7 these last three.
The Cyclones dropped from No. 11 to No. 19 in last week’s AP ranking and will probably continue to fall after their fourth-straight L. They lost to Colorado 68-62 on Wednesday night.
Here is how to watch, potential starting lineups and stats before Sunday’s matchup.
