Oklahoma State Lands Former Vanderbilt DE Pledge Joey Quinn

The Cowboys nabbed a defensive lineman who was formerly headed to SEC country.

Joey Quinn, a 2026 high school prospect, committed to Oklahoma State, he announced on Tuesday.

He picked the Cowboys over offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State. He was previously committed to Vanderbilt.

Quinn is 6-foot-6, 250-pound edge rusher from Mount Carmel High School in Chicago. He grew up playing tight end and offensive line, according to a write-up in the Chicago Tribune. But he likes sacking QBs more than blocking for them. In Mount Carmel’s 8A playoff win against Lincoln-Way East, he sacked USC commit Jonas Williams three times, including a strip-sack.

He is a three-star prospect and the No. 90 edge rusher, according to the 247Sports’ Composite ranking. Quinn had 18 offers overall, but the Cowboys are the latest to offer and they didn’t take long to sell him on the excitement in Stillwater this offseason.

He decommitted from the Commodores on Oct. 14 and immediately got a barrage of new offers including San Diego State, Colorado State and Central Michigan. But when OSU came calling on Jan. 28, he needed less than a week to announce his plans.

Quinn was one of the top remaining available prospects heading into Wednesday’s Signing Day. He’s available no more.
