OSU Wrestling: Dreshaun Ross Advances to U20 World Finals, Robideau Will Wrestle for Bronze
Dreshaun Ross is 4-0 by a combined score of 36-1.
Thus far, the world has not been ready for Dreshaun Ross.
Ross advanced to the U20 World Championships finals at 125 kg on Saturday, storming through his four matches to get there by a combined score of 36-1 in Slovakia.
Ross is an incoming freshman at Oklahoma State, who will compete at heavyweight.
Ross’ first two opponents didn’t make it out of the opening minute, as he got up 10-0 on South Korea’s Baejoon Jang in just 33 seconds. Then he bested Kazakhstan’s Riza Izakhar in just 54 seconds, again winning 10-0.

His third foe was able to make it out of the first minute, but not by much. Ross beat Georgia’s Aleksandre Abramishvili 12-0 in 2:10.
Ross was finally in a match of substance in the semis, but he still got the better of Azerbaijan’s Yusif Dursunov 4-1. The match was tied at 1 in the second period with both guys scoring via activity points before Ross got in on a leg and forced a step-out, and then got in on a leg again and scored a takedown.Â
Ross will get Iran’s Abolfazl Mohammad Nezhad in Sunday’s final. Nezhad won U23 world gold last year and took second at last year’s U20 World Championships.
Landon Robideau also started his U20 Worlds journey Sunday morning, winning his first three bouts before dropping a tight one in the semis. He’s still alive for third.
Robideau opened against Georgia’s Zurab Abalaki, with the reigning 157-pound NCAA champ winning 12-1.
He was then in a tight one against Mongolia’s Ankh Altangerel, who took third at the U23 Asian Championships earlier this year. Robideau was able to open the bout up late, pinning Altangerel as time expired when Robideau was already up 13-5.

Robideau matched up with Iran’s Sina Khalili in the semis. Khalili is a former U17 world champ, a 2025 U23 world silver medalist and won the Zagreb Open earlier this year. So, a tough competitor.
Robideau held a 2-1 lead in the final minute, but Khalili was able to get a match-winning takedown with about 40 seconds to go. Robideau was giving up some length to Khalili and had a hard time breaking down his defense getting to his legs.
OSU’s 157-pounder will wrestler the winner of Zalkarbek Tabaldiev (Kyrgyzstan) and Remzi Temur (Turkey) for third on Sunday.
