STILLWATER — Eric Morris’ strong start didn’t just impress the Loyal and True. It’s already begun shifting the conversation around Oklahoma State, with several prominent college football voices including the Cowboys in playoff predictions.

That might seem like an overly huge boost following a win over a West Virginia program that was also looking for its first winning season since 2023.

FanDuel doesn’t yet have the Cowboys on the shortlist for the CFP (OSU is 28th in terms of odds), but the oddsmaker has also dramatically changed its tune on OSU since the offseason.

Oklahoma State’s win total is now set at 7.5 with the OVER a slight favorite. At one point this summer, the Cowboys hitting OVER on 5.5 wins was one of the heaviest favorites in the conference.

If you follow the odds, that puts OSU as a slight favorite to finish fifth in total wins among Big 12 teams, with Arizona and Kansas State just behind the Pokes.

The Cowboys are fourth in line to make the Big 12 title game, but a distant fifth to win it. Here’s how FanDuel sees the top six teams in the conference sorted by odds of making that game.

To make title game To win title game
Texas Tech -155 +185
Utah +155 +400
BYU +180 +490
Oklahoma St +460 +1,100
Houston +480 +1,000
Arizona St +600 +1,500

FanDuel doesn’t view any other Big 12 team as remotely competitive to make the Big 12 title game. In the offseason, FanDuel had Oklahoma State ninth in the Big 12 with +2,500 odds of winning the title game, so the Cowboys more than doubled their chances based on FanDuel’s shift.

FanDuel is also booking several other bets that were either interesting or have insight into how the rest of the season might go for the Cowboys.

Users can bet on who will hold state bragging rights at the end of the season between Oklahoma State (3-1) and the Sooners (2-2). The Cowboys were a decent favorite at -250 to maintain their lead in wins, while OU is +390. A tie was +650.

OSU quarterback Drew Mestemaker ranked 12th for the Heisman with +3,500 odds. For context, he was not even close to the 18th spot this offseason, which had guys with +5,500 odds, and according to multiple reports, Mestemaker was listed at +10,000 odds, if not more, at some places for much of the offseason.

Oregon (+105) has the 11th-best odds of making the CFP just behind Texas Tech (-105).

Oklahoma State has a particularly soft stretch of schedule coming up next with teams that aren’t expected to celebrate many more times this season.

Here’s how things look for the rest of OSU’s schedule following the odds:

Home vs UCF, at MOST three more expected wins

At Houston, at LEAST six more expected wins

Home vs Colorado, at MOST two more wins

At Iowa State, at LEAST three more wins

At Kansas State, at MOST five more wins

Home vs Texas Tech, seven more wins (exact total could go either way)

At Arizona State, at LEAST five more wins

Home vs Kansas, three more wins (could go either way)
