It’s a big weekend in the SEC and for Notre Dame.

This appears to be the best slate of college football games in some time, and it comes as the calendar turns to November.

Here’s a look at the Big 12 and around the country at some of the best games of the weekend.

Big 12 Schedule

TCU (4-4) at No. 22 Arizona (6-2) — 9:15 p.m. Friday on ESPN
Iowa State (4-4) at Baylor (5-3) — 11 a.m. Saturday on FS1
No. 9 BYU (7-1) at No. 3 Utah (8-0) — 11 a.m. Saturday on ABC
Oklahoma State (5-3) at Kansas State (4-4) — noon Saturday on TNT
Cincinnati (5-3) at No. 17 Houston (6-2) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on FOX
UCF (4-4) at Kansas (3-5) — 2:45 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2
Colorado (3-5) at Arizona State (4-4) — 6:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2
West Virginia (5-3) at No. 15 Texas Tech (7-1) — 8:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPN

Holy War: I’m choosing to look past the fact that this game will be played at 10 a.m. local time and just be excited about it. With the loss of Bedlam, BYU-Utah is hands down the Big 12’s premier rivalry, which was proven a few years back when the Utah AD took the stand after the game to badmouth the officials.

On top of the built-in hatred, it’s a Top 10 matchup that could decide a ton as it pertains to the Big 12 title picture and even the College Football Playoff.

Cincy-Houston: In a world where Utah wins this weekend, there could be a clump of teams with two Big 12 losses vying for a spot in Arlington. In that instance, Houston might be in a good spot, but as Texas Tech already found out, you can’t overlook the Bearcats.

This is a game the Cougars should handle, but they can’t get sleepy on Saturday.

WVU-Texas Tech: The Red Raiders’ offense looked more functional in its move to Thomas Castellanos last week, but that offense could be stressed this week.

WVU ranks fourth in the league in points per game (35.9). Tech has only hit that total once in Big 12 play. Now, West Virginia’s defense is quite bad, giving up a league-worst 32.3 points a game. But, if it’s required, can Tech go blow-for-blow in a shootout? That’s the question I’m looking forward to getting an answer to.

Other Games to Watch

Virginia Tech (6-2) at SMU (6-2) — 6 p.m. Friday on ESPN
No. 7 Texas (6-2) at No. 18 Missouri (6-2) — 11 a.m. Saturday on ESPN
No. 5 Alabama (6-2) at No. 14 LSU (6-2) — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on ABC
No. 6 Kentucky (7-1) at No. 13 Tennessee (6-2) — 5:15 p.m. Saturday on ESPN
No. 1 Miami (8-0) at No. 11 Notre Dame (7-1) — 6:30 p.m. Saturday on NBC
No. 2 Georgia (7-1) at No. 10 Ole Miss (6-2) — 6:30 p.m. Saturday on ABC
No. 19 Iowa (6-2) at Northwestern (6-2) — 6:30 p.m. Saturday on FOX

Miami-Notre Dame: Catholics vs. Convicts redubbed, this looks to essentially be a College Football Playoff play-in game for the Irish.

Not playing in a conference, Notre Dame had essentially two resume games on its schedule — at BYU and home against Miami. The Irish lost the first and can’t afford to lose the second, evident by the committee putting Notre Dame at 11 in the initial rankings.

Two-Loss SEC Palooza: There are six two-loss teams in the SEC. All six of them play either another two-loss SEC team or a one-loss SEC team this week.

Many takeaways from the College Football Playoff rankings were that there was an SEC bias, but I’m interested to see how much chaos this week’s results brings to those rankings before getting too upset with them.
