The Cowboys and Red Raiders will do battle after dark, and thus, Oklahoma State has decided to make it a blackout.
The Big 12 released kick times for next weekend’s games on Sunday morning, noting that Oklahoma State and Texas Tech will kick at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday in Boone Pickens Stadium. The game will be on ESPN.
That’s a kick time you might expect to see for a game out west, but I suppose since the latest batch of conference realignment, the Big 12 has taken over some of those slots.
Here is the Big 12 slate in full for next week:
Houston at Colorado — 9:15 p.m. Friday on ESPN
Cincinnati at Iowa State — 11 a.m. Saturday on TNT
Kansas State at TCU — 1 p.m. Saturday on ESPNU
Baylor at BYU — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on FOX
Arizona State at UCF — 2:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2
Kansas at West Virginia — 4:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPNU
Utah at Arizona — 6:30 p.m. Saturday on FOX
Texas Tech at Oklahoma State — 9:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPN
This marks the latest kick the Cowboys have had this season, but the Red Raiders might be a little used to the late-night football. Tech’s 53-48 win against West Virginia this past Saturday kicked at 8:30 p.m.
It’s obviously a big game, with the Cowboys facing the reigning Big 12 champs and OSU coach Eric Morris’ alma mater.
OSU is also looking to drag Texas Tech into the two-loss party in the Big 12. Right now, Utah stands alone atop the conference at 6-0 in league play, while Tech is in solo second at 5-1. But then BYU, Houston, Arizona, Baylor and Oklahoma State are all sitting right behind the Red Raiders at 4-2.
So sleep in on Saturday and maybe warmup a cup or two of evening coffee.
