Travis Ford Ejected From Son’s High School Game
Travis Ford even loses on off days.
Ford headed to Bixby on Thursday night to watch his son play basketball for Stillwater High School against Bixby HS. He got tossed out of the game and (apparently) escorted from the gym.
Here is the Tulsa World’s Mark Cooper reporting on the incident.
“(The ref) kind of baited him into it,” the school official said. “Travis came in to watch his son play, and I felt like he was baited into the whole thing. … When all of this took place, I didn’t hear one single thing said. The official blows his whistle, points (at Ford) and says, ‘You’re gone.’ And then I saw Travis walk out.”
“It was very surreal,” said (another source), who added that he has seen plenty of parents not thrown out for being much more demonstrative.
So that’s not great. Here’s the Oklahoman.
(Stillwater News Press journalist Ron) Holt said that Ford again said, “Blow your whistle,” and, “Do your job,” before being escorted out of the gym by Bixby athletic director Mark Chambers.
“There was a possible foul underneath the goal as a Stillwater player went in for a layup,” Holt said, “which caused Stillwater coaches and fans to voice displeasure with the no-call. The ref never warned him, he just looked at him and said, ‘You’re gone.’”
And here’s the transcript from Stillwater’s radio broadcasters.

A source also told me that Ford showed no remorse after the game, yelling, “I got y’all’s back” in a hospitality room after the game.
The whole thing honestly sounds pretty mild to me, but if you’re Ford, the hits just keep on coming. I continue to feel bad for him because, well, look at this headline. He pretty clearly wasn’t crazy belligerent. He pretty clearly wasn’t out of control. And yet, because he can’t win in GIA, we crucify him for everything else.[1. Would we even care that this happened if it was Bill Self?] That’s how it goes when you lose.
