Oklahoma State Golf Team Beats OU by 19, Heads to NCAA Championships
On a cold, difficult day in Stillwater at Karsten Creek, Oklahoma State shot 7 over as a team to end the Stillwater Regional at 7 over for the week (871 shots) and beat runner-up OU by 19 strokes.
Nineteen!
No other team won by that many in any of the regionals. The next closest was Stanford by 14 over Oregon. This was OSU’s 11th Regional title since 1989 (the first year regionals were apparently held).
Here are the five teams that advanced out of the Stillwater Regional to the National Championship.
Poor Alabama State got beat by 106 strokes as they finished with a score of 977. Scoring is calculated by dropping the lowest of five individual scores every day.
Kristoffer Ventura took home medalist honors with an even-par 216 for the week. Big 12 champ Stratton Nolen finished third. Open Championship star Jordan Niebrugge finished fifth. Pretty solid for the Pokes.
Here’s Ventura.

OSU will now travel to Oregon and Eugene Country Club for its 69th NCAA Championship appearance in the last 70 years. They are ranked No. 5 in the country and have, um, a pretty decent history at the NCAA Championships. Although their last overall win came all the way back in 2006.
