Oklahoma State Destroys Clemson, Will Play for Super Regional Sunday
If you would have told me Clemson was going to score 26 runs in its first two games as host of its own regional which Oklahoma State was also playing in, well, I would not have thought this is how it would have gone.
Clemson put up 24 in its first game on Friday but could muster only two on Saturday against Oklahoma State and only one of those against Pokes’ starter Tyler Buffett who went seven strong. The Pokes got eight runs in the first three innings which was more than enough to defeat the Tigers.
The big story was Buffett who had just started two other games on the season. He held mighty Clemson (which homered seven times on Friday) to just seven hits and three walks while striking out six. Magnificent. Here’s how the whole thing ended.
The win ends Clemson’s 10-game winning streak and means they become the first of eight national seeds to lose.
Oklahoma State will play to go to its second Super Regional in the last three years on Sunday night (it will probably be against Clemson again which will have to beat OSU twice).
