Mike Gundy Takes Hilarious Shot At OU During Thursday Event
Mike Gundy unhinged is the greatest version of Mike Gundy ever. Gundy is clearly in “I’m gonna grow a mullet because I make almost $4 million a year to win ~9 games and I’m going to be here 4ever” mode these days.
That played out a little on Thursday evening in Tulsa when he spoke at the Cowboy Caravan event. John Helsley wrote in the Oklahoman on Friday that Gundy and Larry Reece (who hosted the event) had a humorous back and forth presumably about OU.
On the topic of the ever-expanding tailgating crowd in Stillwater, which Gundy estimated at 30,000-35,000: “On a Thursday night, we leave our facility and it looks like people have staked off for the land run,” Gundy said.
Reece: “Legally staked off. We’d wait for the gun.”
This interaction in one emoji: ?
Then Gundy just said, “screw it, I’m all in.” Maybe it’s the mullet that has him cruising around not really caring about what he says.
Here’s how he went in on OU and specifically its fanbase. Helsley again.
And there were more laughs, too, with Gundy taking another jab at a certain state school. He talked about how OSU fans have ties to the university, whether as students or former students or family.
“At some schools,” Gundy said, “they go fill up their tank at the gas station, buy a hat and go sit and watch a football game.”
Wooooo boy. That’s the good stuff. Not sure I’d be Le Clos-ing a team that just beat me by 35 in my own house, but I’m not going to say Gundy shouldn’t do it either. Let the season start tomorrow.
