Browns CB Justin Gilbert Suffers Concussion In Preseason Game
Former Oklahoma State Cowboy and current Cleveland Brown cornerback Justin Gilbert suffered a concussion in the first half of Saturday’s preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gilbert, who is the only first round pick of the Browns between 2011-2014 that is still on the roster, will be out indefinitely (and this is not his first concussion). Gilbert tallied just 1 interception in 23 games throughout his still young career, with only one pass defended in 9 games last year.
Many figured that Gilbert would shine playing opposite Pro Bowl corner Joe Haden, but it hasn’t worked out for Gilbert in Cleveland so far. He’s struggled with injuries, lack of productivity on the field, and has not made a great impression off of it- he’s reportedly missed many team meetings because he’s a “hard sleeper”).

This latest injury is just another setback for Gilbert, who can still provide value on special teams as a returner, but is running out of time, opportunities, and excuses in Cleveland.
