Chris Carson Likely to Make Return Against Kansas
Oklahoma State’s leading rusher from a year ago is expected to return to the field on Saturday after suffering a hand injury earlier in the season.
Although Carson began the season as the starter, true freshman tailback Justice Hill has taken over the No. 1 spot on the depth chart this week, with Carson not listed. However, Carson’s production makes him an obvious choice to likely take over some workload, to keep Hill fresh.
“Ideally he gets around 15 touches,” Gundy said about his true freshman tailback to The Oklahoman. “The last few games, up around 20 carries — 25 one game — that’s a lot.”
Through 2 games this season before his injury, Carson was averaging nearly 4 yards per carry on 12 attempts. And with Carson’s injury to the hand rather than a leg/ankle, etc., there’s a good chance he will be able to step in and produce without missing a step, allowing Hill to remain fresh as the Pokes tackle the second half of the season.
