Oklahoma State gets commitment from defensive back Trey Sterling
The Cowboys received some good news on the recruiting trail earlier this week with the commitment of under-the-radar athlete Trey Sterling of Sunnyvale, Texas. Sterling is unranked by 247sports, but his film suggests he’s severely underrated — and another needle in a haystack find for Mike Gundy from the Texas area.

He chose the Cowboys over reported offers from Texas State, Colorado State, Arkansas State, Navy, and Army after receiving an offer earlier in the week. Due to injuries on his team, he played a good deal of running back for Sunnyvale, but is expected to take a scholarship spot at safety — a key position OSU is looking to fill for their 2017 class.
He’s a good size safety at 6-foot, 190-pounds, and takes the spot of recently de-committed Tyon Merchant, who parted ways with the Pokes several weeks ago.
