Jawun Evans to Attend the NBA Draft Combine in May

Former Oklahoma State point guard Jawun Evans was invited to the NBA draft combine. Last month, Evans signed with an agent, ending all speculating that he might return to Oklahoma State for his junior season.

Evans is one of 66 players currently invited.

Most mock drafts currently have the All-Big 12 guard going at or towards the end of the 1st round. He may be able to improve on that with an impressive showing at the combine which takes place in Chicago May 9-14.

After his breakout freshman season was cut short due to a shoulder injury, Evans fueled the Cowboys’ huge offensive turnaround to the tune of 19.2 points and 6.4 assists. He was 2nd nationally in assist percentage and averaged 8.8 per 40 minutes his sophomore season.

Though a bit undersized for what a lot NBA execs pine over, Evans is extremely effective in pick and rolls. He will need to improve his jump shot some. His tenacity on defense makes up for some of his shortcomings in the length and lateral quickness departments.

Evans has the talent and basketball IQ to have a good NBA career. Hopefully, a solid combine showing can give him a leg up.
