Dallas Cowboys Sign Blake Jarwin to Active Roster
Former Oklahoma State tight end Blake Jarwin has been promoted from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad to the active 53-man roster, the team announced on Thursday.
Dallas’ decision to release backup QB Kellen Moore cleared the space for Jarwin on the roster. The Cowboys released Moore, ironically, because of their confidence in 2017 NFL Draft pick Cooper Rush, the gunslinger out of Central Michigan who helped upset OSU a season ago in Stillwater. He has secured the No. 2 spot behind Dak Prescott and took fourth quarter reps in the 40-10 win over the 49ers on Sunday.

Dallas’ roster is currently in a state of flux thanks in part to former OSU kicker Dan Bailey, who was injured last week. The Cowboys signed Mike Nugent on Tuesday to fill in for Bailey until he returns to full health, and instead of carrying three QB’s on the roster, opted to elevate Jarwin and slim down the QB room.
Jarwin signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent earlier this spring out of college, however he didn’t make the 53-man roster and was placed on the practice squad. With his signing, Jarwin is now the fourth TE on the roster alongside Jason Witten, James Hanna and Geoff Swaim.
