A Pair of Former Cowboys Are Key Pieces to Tulsa’s Offense

A pair of former Pokes are off to a strong start this season with the Golden Hurricane.

Two of Tulsa’s top four players in terms of total yardage this season used to have the OSU brand on the side of their helmets.

Dominic Richardson and Braylin Presley will return to Stillwater next week when Oklahoma State hosts to Golden Hurricane at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 (a Friday) at Boone Pickens Stadium. The 1-1 Cowboys have a bye week to get to that point while 1-1 Tulsa hosts Navy this Saturday night.

Dominic Richardson

A 6-foot, 210-pound running back out of Bishop McGuinness, Richardson spent the first three years of his college career in Stillwater, where he carried 272 times for 1,139 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Richardson transferred to Baylor ahead of the 2023 season. He played in 15 games across two years with the Bears (redshirting after playing four games in 2024), where he ran for 628 yards and a touchdown. And now, he’s in Tulsa.

“Certainly, Dom Richardson is a hammer,” said Tulsa coach Tre Lamb before the season. “He’s been very impressive.”

Richardson carried 20 times in Tulsa’s season-opening win against Abilene Christian, where the former Cowboy ran for 142 yards and a touchdown. That touchdown run came from 57 yards out.

He took 20 more handoffs in last week’s loss to New Mexico State, where Richardson ran for 93 yards. He also caught three passes for another 20 yards.

So, through two games at Tulsa, Richardson has 235 rushing yards and a touchdown. He has more than 100 scrimmage yards more than Tulsa’s next player (wide receiver Zion Booker with 124).

According to Pro Football Focus, Richardson has already made nine would-be tacklers miss and has 148 yards after contact.

Braylin Presley

After a phenomenal high school career at Bixby, Presley hadn’t quite found a role in college — until this year.

Now listed as a running back like he played as a Spartan, Presley almost has as many receiving yards this season as he did in 11 games last year. On top of that, he’s ran for 60 yards — the most in any season in his college career.

Presley is Tulsa’s third-leading rusher, going for those 60 yards on a dozen attempts (five yards per carry). He’s tied for the second-most receptions on the team, catching seven passes for 44 yards.

He’s lined up in the backfield, in the slot and out wide thus far this season.

“BP is a terror on the perimeter and in space,” Lamb said.

Presley is the younger brother of Brennan Presley — OSU’s all-time leader in career receptions. He’s the older brother of Braeden Presley — who is committed to OSU as part of the Cowboys’ 2026 recruiting class.

Braylin was the highest-ranked of the Presley brothers as a prospect. He was a four-star prospect with offers to OSU, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Missouri, West Virginia and others.

Presley initially chose the Cowboys and spent the 2022 season in Stillwater. He played in seven games that year, catching five passes for 26 yards. He had two rush attempts for three yards before hopping in the portal and reemerging at Tulsa.
