Against the Spread: OSU Favored by a Touchdown Against WVU

Published

on

OSU failed to cover the 7-point spread against Texas on Saturday in what might go down as one of the worst offensive performances of the Mike Gundy era. But they’ll get another shot at redeeming themselves (at least in the eyes of Vegas) on Saturday in Morgantown as a 7.5-point favorite.

Let’s get to the matchup between WVU and OSU in Vegas terms.

Against The Spread In 2017

• OSU: 4-3 — OSU won by 3 on Saturday but failed to cover the 7.5-point spread due to a putrid showing by the Cowboy offense.

• West Virginia: 4-3 — WVU failed to cover a double-digit spread against Baylor this weekend, but has covered the spread against good teams this season — including a 7-point loss to TCU earlier this month.

Advice: Take OSU to cover the 7-point spread and win by 2 TD’s. There’s no way the offense lays an egg two weeks in a row, right? Right?!

Straight Up In 2017

• OSU: 6-1 — OSU is now 6-1 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 play, tied for second in the conference title race.

• West Virginia: 5-2  — West Virginia doesn’t have a win over a ranked opponent yet, but a win over Texas Tech was a feather in the cap for the Mountaineers.

Advice: Pokes win.

Over/Under

• OSU: 4/3 — OSU has hit the over four out of seven tries this season. Saturday against Texas, they fell short of the line by 41.5 points

• West Virginia: 5/1/1 — The Mountaineers offense has rolled this season behind the arm of Billy Grier and darkhorse Biletnikoff candidate David Sills.

Advice: Holgo + Gundy badger. Over. It’s currently at 73!

Bonus Picks

• Take the under on Kansas-K-State: I saw Kansas play this weekend, and I’m not sure they can muster any points against their cross-state rival on Saturday. So unless K-State can score 58.5 points on their own, I suggest hammering the under.

• Take UCLA to cover 17.5 vs. Washington: UCLA isn’t a good football team, but Josh Rosen’s talents are enough reason to think the Bruins can at least cover and make this afternoon kick in Seattle interesting.

• Take Baylor to cover vs. Texas: Hot take: I think Baylor gets its first win of the season on Saturday against Texas. The Horns are just a 7.5 point favorite in Waco, and I think the Bears are figuring stuff out on offense at just the right time.
