All Sports Update: Golf Finishes 4th in Big 12 Match Play, Soccer Drops 3rd Straight

Men’s Golf

The Oklahoma State men’s golf team finished fourth at the inaugural Big 12 Match Play Championship.

The Cowboys fell to Kansas in the semifinals on a hole differential tiebreaker. In the third-place match, the Cowboys fell to Texas.

Baylor won the event at Houston Oaks against Kansas.

The Cowboys will compete at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Oct. 22 in Dallas.

Soccer

The Cowgirl soccer team started the season hot, but has since lost its past three games.

OSU fell to No. 14 Baylor 1-0 in Waco on Friday.

Baylor’s Camryn Wendlandt scored the game’s lone goal in the 24th minute.

Hannah Warner and Dani Greenlee split halves in net and had a combined 10 saves.

The Cowgirls are 10-4-1 on the season but are 2-3-1 in Big 12 play. OSU returns home this week with games against West Virginia and Iowa State.

Cross-Country

OSU cross-country runners won both the men’s and women’s races at the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday.

Sinclaire Johnson won the women’s 6K with a 19:58.5. It was her second victory of the season.

In the men’s 8K, Ashenafi Hatte narrowly defeated teammate Isai Rodriguez. Hatte finished in 23:52.7 whereas Rodriguez’s time was 23:52.8.

In the team standings, the OSU men and women each finished second. Guelph won the men’s race, and Florida won the women’s.

Equestrian

The No. 7 OSU equestrian team picked up its first win of the season after topping No. 3 Baylor 11-9 on Saturday.

The Cowgirls took four of five reining points to complete a comeback victory, capped off with Hannah Mitchell’s meet-winning point.

OSU will visit two SEC schools this weekend, taking on Auburn on Friday and Georgia on Saturday.

Softball

The Cowgirl softball team hammered Connors State 28-0 on Thursday.

OSU scored 11 runs in the first inning, and finished the game with 22 hits. Sixteen Cowgirls were walked, and five players were hit by pitches.

The Cowgirls used four pitchers who gave up a combined four hits and one walk while striking out 17 in the 10-inning game.
