Amen Ogbongbemiga, Malcolm Rodriguez Named to Butkus Preseason Watch List
OSU the only Big 12 school with two LBs on this list.
It’s #watchlistSZN and a pair of Cowboy defenders are being recognized.
Oklahoma State returns both of its starting linebackers in Amen Ogbongbemiga and Malcolm Rodriguez, and both were included on the preseason watch list for the Butkus Award, given to college football’s top LB.
The duo of Amen and M-Rod represent Nos. 3 and 4 on the list of returning tacklers in the Big 12 after becoming the first duo to reach triple-digit takedowns in the Mike Gundy era. Ogbongbemiga earned second-team All-Big 12 honors for his efforts.
OSU is the only Big 12 school to boast multiple watch list members with six other conference colleagues on the radar:
Terrel Bernard (Baylor)
Mike Rose (Iowa State)
DaShaun White (Oklahoma)
Garret Wallow (TCU)
Joseph Ossai (Texas)
Riko Jeffers (Texas Tech)
Semifinalists are expected to be named Nov. 2 and finalists on Nov. 23. The winner will be announced by Dec. 8. No OSU player has won the award since its inception in 1985.
