Auburn Wide Receiver Transfer Sam Jackson V Commits to Oklahoma State
Jackson played QB at TCU and Cal before playing WR for Auburn last season.
Hold on to your butts, the Cowboys just picked up a wide receiver from the SEC.
Sam Jackson V, who played at Auburn last season, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State via his Instagram on Saturday. Jackson’s had an interesting career, beginning as a quarterback at TCU and Cal before spending this past season as a receiver with the Tigers. Jackson caught two passes for 63 yards and a touchdown this past season. In three seasons as a QB, he completed 55% of his 103 pass attempts for 696 yards and five touchdowns while running for another 138 yards and three scores.

Out of Naperville Central High School in the Chicago area, Jackson was the No. 374 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2021 class — as a quarterback. He initially chose TCU over offers from Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, Boston College, Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska and others. He made two appearances as a true freshman for the Horned Frogs — one of those coming in Boone Pickens Stadium, where he ran for four yards and had a 77-yard pass against the Cowboys. He played in five games as a redshirt freshman in 2022 in Fort Worth.
Jackson started three games at Cal in 2023, playing in five. With the Golden Bears that season, Jackson threw for 556 yards and five touchdowns to two interceptions while running for another 59 yards and a touchdown ahead of his move to Auburn.
The Tigers listed Jackson at 5-foot-10, 187 pounds this past season. He had a 37-yard touchdown catch against Alabama A&M in August with his other catch coming against New Mexico for 26 yards.

New OSU offensive coordinator Doug Meacham likely had something to do with Jackson picking the Pokes. Meacham was TCU’s offensive coordinator in 2021 — Jackson’s freshman season.
He’s the second wide receiver transfer the Cowboys have picked up out of the portal, and both have come from the Power Four level. He joins Purdue transfer Shamar Rigby.
