Big 12 Announces Bedlam Will Not Be a Night Game In Norman

After the debacle of a timeframe we got on Monday for the OSU-TCU game next weekend, the Big 12 followed that up with times for the final few weeks of the season. Here they are.

Friday, November 25
TCU at Texas (FOX or FS1), 2:30 p.m. CT
Baylor vs. Texas Tech (ESPN), 5:00 p.m. CT

Saturday, November 26
Kansas at K-State (FS1), 11:00 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. CT
West Virginia at Iowa State (FS1), 11:00 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. CT

Saturday, December 3
Baylor at West Virginia (FOX or FS1), 11:00 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. CT
K-State at TCU (FOX or FS1), 11:00 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. CT
Oklahoma State at Oklahoma (FOX or FS1), 11:00 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. CT

Not that Mike Gundy minds. He wants every game to be played at 2:30 p.m.

“It’s a good time to play,” Gundy told the O’Colly on Monday. “You get a lot of television audience. It is unusual, but obviously television dictates a lot of what happens.”

From an OSU and coverage standpoint of this game, I’m with Gundy. I don’t want Bedlam on the road to be at night. I also don’t want to be up until 4 a.m. writing. I also don’t need OU to have any more advantages than they already to if this thing is for the Big 12 title. If it was in Stillwater, I would feel very different.

From a “fan of college football” standpoint, I would prefer games to be at night. It’s better for the game. Better for fans. More memorable. If the TCU game next week is not at night, OSU will have played exactly one night game out of 12 this year (at Baylor).

Long live the Big 12.
