Who is the best team in the Big 12?

Here is a recap from Big 12 games from Week 7.

Texas Tech 17, TCU 14

Without freshman standout Alan Bowman, Texas Tech went to Fort Worth and beat TCU.

Sophomore Jett Duffey threw for 190 yards and a touchdown and ran for another 83 yards and a score.

TCU quarterback Shawn Robinson had 290 passing yards with two touchdowns, but Robinson also had two interceptions. His final pick iced the game on the Horned Frogs final possession.

After originally being considered a contender in the Big 12, TCU’s most impressive win this season is its 17-14 victory against pre-Purdy Iowa State.

Iowa State 30, No. 6 West Virginia 14

Speaking of Iowa State, holy crap.

We’ll start with freshman quarterback Brock Purdy, who went 18-for-25 with 254 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Hakeem Butler brought in six catches for 107 yards and a touchdown.

David Montgomery is finally looking like the Pro Football Focus All-American that he is. Montgomery had 189 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries.

Now for West Virginia.

“Heisman hopeful” Will Grier had 100 passing yards and was sacked seven times. Grier completed only 11 passes.

The Mountaineers didn’t get any help from the running game, as Kennedy McKoy was the team’s leading 55 rushing yards on nine carries.

West Virginia had nine first downs to Iowa State’s 25. West Virginia had 152 total yards to Iowa State’s 498.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

Even after all of that, this might be Iowa State’s play of the game:

No. 9 Texas 23, Baylor 17

With one second left, Baylor had the ball on Texas’ 17, but Charlie Brewers’ pass sailed out of the back of the end zone.

Texas survived a scare, but perhaps the most noteworthy happening of this game was Sam Ehlinger exiting the game in the first half with a shoulder injury.

After the game, Texas coach Tom Herman said Ehlinger suffered an AC sprain, and Ehlinger could throw again by the end of next week.

In Ehlinger’s place, Shane Buechele threw for 184 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Red River Showdown hero Cameron Dicker attempted five field goals, making three including a career long 47-yarder.

Brewer grew up a Texas fan as his dad and grandfather both played at Texas, a story the commentators mentioned about as much as they mention Taylor Cornelius is a former walk-on. Brewer threw for 240 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also had a team-high 22 rushing yards — not ideal.
