Bowl Projections: Pokes on Life Support After KSU Rout
Only CBS Sports says OSU won’t go bowling.
I thought it was kind of crazy last week when every major outlet still had Oklahoma State in a bowl game, and ESPN had them playing in the Alamo Bowl (!), and I think it’s even crazier this week that everybody except CBS has them still playing in the postseason. Here’s a look, starting with the homeless man’s version of a 2012 Fiesta rematch. Chips > Cheez-Its.
ESPN 1:Â Cheez-It (Stanford)
ESPN 2:Â Liberty Bowl (Missouri)
USA Today:Â Liberty Bowl (Missouri)
SI:Â Armed Forces Bowl (Memphis)
SB Nation:Â Liberty Bowl (Tennessee)
CBS:Â N/A
I also still think Oklahoma State will make a bowl game, but I think it’s crazy that five of these six have them in one because the percentages would say that they’re not going to. That is, you should be considered on the wrong side of the prediction if you think OSU is playing in the postseason as of right now. That should feel hot take-y.
And yet! Three Liberties, an Armed Forces and a Cheez-It! Against Stanford!
I just don’t know where the wins are coming from. You could talk me into Baylor, I guess. Texas at home? I mean, I guess. Maybe. WVU at home? TCU and OU on the road.
There is certainly a path to six wins and it runs right through Denton, Texas but it’s not a clear one. OSU is scuffling right now and on the verge of a potential complete collapse at Homecoming (if that hasn’t already taken place). I guess the bright side is that as of right now, after Week 7 (and technically after Week 8) they still have a winning record. It doesn’t feel that way, but it’s true.
So anything could happen over the next five games. The Pokes could make magic and win two of their last five. We could indeed have a December full of Liberty and Justice for all (? that happens for headline purposes).
