Breakdown of the Wrestling Commitments and their Weights and Recruiting Rankings
The Pokes have gotten better and deeper in the past few weeks.

It’s been an exciting few weeks for wrestling recruiting at OSU as four top-10 ranked wrestlers committed. I was asked by a reader to put together a list of all the OSU commits, what weights they project at, and where they rank. I thought that was a great idea, so here it is.
2019 | Flo Weight/Rank | Intermat Weight/Rank | Projected OSU Wt. |
---|---|---|---|
Colt Newton | 126/Unranked | 126/Unranked | 141 |
Reece Witcraft | 126/No. 7 | 126/Unranked | 133-141 |
Brevin Balmeceda | 160/No. 2 | 152/No. 8 | 157-165 |
Chance Mclane | 152/Unranked | 152/Unranked | 149-157 |
Triston Wills | 160/Unranked | 160/Unranked | 165 |
2020 | Flo Weight/Rank | Intermat Weight/Rank | Projected OSU Wt. |
---|---|---|---|
Trevor Mastrogiovanni | 120/No. 5 | 113/No. 1 | 125-133 |
Dustin Plott | 170/No. 4 | 160/No. 7 | 174-184 |
Konner Doucet | 195/No. 6 | 195/Unranked | 197-285 |
A few notes.
The Flo rankings are more recent. Intermat hasn’t updated the ranks since last year, so that’s why the weights are different and some guys are ranked drastically different than Flo ranks them.
As a whole, when you look at what’s here and what’s already in the room, this is a pretty good spread across weights, which is important. You can still see spots where OSU may have some needs though. Specifically one upper weight, one middleweight, and maybe one lower weight.
I’ll try and give my thoughts on how OSU could fill some of those spots in the coming days, including some takes on AJ Ferrari, who I know many are curious about.
