Charlie Strong on Mason Rudolph: ‘He Controls the Game’

Mason Rudolph has been really good this year at doing what Mike Yurcich wants Mason Rudolph to do: Complete a lot of passes and not turn the ball over.

Texas coach Charlie Strong has taken notice of Rudolph’s game management.

“You know what he does, he does a great job of just managing the offense,” said Strong earlier this week. “You watch that offense, he gets the ball in the right people’s hands. He controls the game. That’s why they’re playing so well right now, because of the job that he’s doing. Just breaking it down, it’s going to be a tough game for us because of the quarterback and what he’s done.”

It’s true. Rudolph is among the nation’s best when it comes to completing passes. And against a mediocre (I’m being generous) Texas defense, that number should only go up.

Rudolph is 9th nationally in completion percentage among QBs who have attempted 90 or more throws. If he can continue to control the pace and hit a home run or two (if Yurcich allows him to swing for the fences), then OSU will be in great shape to get its sixth straight win under No. 2.
