In-State Edge Rusher Recruit Will Smith Decommits from Oklahoma State
The Pokes lose an in-state edge rusher.

Oklahoma State’s 2024 recruiting class is down to six.
Choctaw edge rusher Will Smith announced his decommitment from Oklahoma State on Thursday night. A three-star prospect listed at 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, Smith is the No. 834 player in the 247Sports Composite rankings and committed to OSU in February over offers to Iowa State and others.
247Sports lists Smith as the No. 5 prospect in the state of Oklahoma. His departure from OSU’s class leaves the Cowboys with two Oklahomans in the class in Southeast’s Rodney Fields and Stillwater’s Josh Ford.
Smith was the only defensive lineman committed to OSU, but the Cowboys are in play with a handful of other prospects at the position. For example, the Cowboys recently made the top group for Edward Smith, the No. 468 player in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite ranking.
The decommitment moves OSU’s class from 31st nationally down to No. 35, but it’s still early in the cycle overall.
Here is a look at the Cowboys’ six-man class with their star rankings and national ranking per 247Sports composite:
Landyn Cleveland — S — ⭐⭐⭐ — No. 573
Jaylen Boardley — LB — ⭐⭐⭐ — No. 645
Willie Nelson — S — ⭐⭐⭐ — No. 704
Caleb Hackleman — OL — ⭐⭐⭐ — No. 745
Rodney Fields — RB — ⭐⭐⭐ — No. 818
Josh Ford — TE — ⭐⭐⭐
