Chuba Hubbard Named Maxwell Award Semifinalist
Chuba’s eye-popping production not going completely unnoticed.
Chuba Hubbard is one of 20 semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, given annually to the Collegiate Football Player of the Year.
Through eight games it’s hard to make a better case for any running back for the award. Hubbard is the country’s leader in the following categories:
– Total rushing yards
– Rushing yards per game
– All-purpose yards
– Yards after contact
– Plays from scrimmage
He’s second in the nation in yards from scrimmage and rushing TDs currently and is third in the country in total points. He has more rushing yards and yards per carry through eight games than three of the last four RBs to win the Heisman.
Barry Sanders was the last Oklahoma State player to win the Maxwell Award. Alabama’s Derrick Henry (2015) is the only running back to received the award in the last 15 years.
Three finalists will be announced on Nov. 25 and the winner will be announced at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 12.
