Class of 2020 Linebacker Krishon Merriweather Picks Texas Tech over OSU
This could be good news for another OSU target.
The last recruiting pitch isn’t always the one that wins out. After an official visit to Oklahoma State over the weekend, junior college linebacker Krishon Merriweather, a three-star prospect from Garden City Community College, committed Tuesday to Texas Tech.
Merriweather picked the Red Raiders over Oklahoma State.
Both schools entered the mix late for the 6-foot, 230-pound inside backer, but Tech got in first with an offer on Dec. 2. OSU’s offer arrived three days later. He visited Lubbock last weekend then followed it up with a visit to OSU this weekend before coming to his conclusion.

While this could be seen as bad news, a glass-half-full approach suggests this might be good news on the Mason Cobb front. Cobb, a high school inside linebacker prospect from Provo, Utah, was on campus for an official visit alongside Merriweather over the weekend. He’s expected to commit and sign Wednesday morning between OSU and Louisville, and sources tell PFB that OSU feels confident in its chances leading into his decision.
If Cobb does indeed join the fold, that will likely do it for OSU at linebacker in the 2020 recruiting cycle. OSU holds commitments from in-state standouts Jeff Roberson and Cole Thompson and will likely max at three signees at the position in the cycle overall.
