Closer Look: New White-Black-Black Uniform
Welcome back to our closer look at some of the new uniform combinations OSU will wear this season. As always, graphic have been provided by Chris Knox. On to the commentary.

This helmet has become one of my favorites. Probably No. 2 overall behind the matte black with orange brand. The only reason I would want to see this particular combo is if we played a Thursday night game (paying homage to the games vs Colorado, Texas A&M, and Arizona).
We got away from that when we played Tech on Thursday night with Orange Chrome-Black-Black so I don’t think this is a uni combo we would ever see. This combo looks best with white pants. The individual pieces of the uniform are all great, but it’s kind of a flop as a whole compared to other practical options.

I love that we’re using No. 1 as the template. Like your boy Sheets, I was screaming for Dez to put on The Uno.
I’ve never really been a fan of the white-black-black combo. Just seems imbalanced. I prefer to strap on any of the black helmets and call it a Saturday. I do love the parts: That’s one of the best helmets in the arsenal, the black jersey looks great as always and the black pants with the white “Cowboys” is a nice addition. But overall, there are many better combos.
I’m also interested to see if they toy with the sock game again this season. Socks are a subtle way to make a good uniform elite and this combo could use an upgrade.

This particular helmet makes the black top and black bottom look better than, say, the helmets they wore in that Colorado game back in 2009. This helmet at least ties in the rest of the uni. The white lid with the black-black just looked awkward. That’s why I would be OK with seeing these rolled back out there this year.
Of course the Poke Truthers would weep like Mack Brown when Justin Gilbert went for that pick six in Austin a few years ago: Where’s my oraaaaange?
