Cowboy RTC Sending Six to Pan American Championships this Week
OSU wrestling will be well represented this weekend in Mexico.
The past, present and future of Cowboy wrestling will be on the mat again this weekend, this time at the Pan American Championships in Monterrey, Mexico.
The Cowboy RTC is sending six wrestlers to the event, including one who just finished his OSU career, one who is about to start his OSU career and another who is set to join the Pokes in 2026.
Fresh off his upset win against Gable Steveson at the NCAA Championships and his win at the U.S. Open, Captain America Wyatt Hendrickson will represent the United States at 125 kg. Hendrickson won the U.S. Open by outscoring his opponents a combined 45-7.
Ladarion Lockett will join the Cowboys next school year. The Stillwater High School product will represent the U.S. at 74 kg. Lockett won the U20 U.S. Open two weeks ago, outscoring his opponents a combined 65-9.
Only a junior in high school, Jax Forrest will slot in as the Americans’ 61 kg representative after winning the senior division of the U.S. Open. That tournament win has pushed Forrest up to the No. 1 pound-for-pound high school recruit in some rankings. Forrest beat two former NCAA champs to win that U.S. Open title.
The Cowboy RTC’s other three representatives didn’t wrestle collegiately for Oklahoma State but do their training in Stillwater. Joey McKenna will wrestle for the U.S. at 65 kg, Zahid Valencia will wrestle for the U.S. at 86 kg and Roman Bravo-Young will represent Mexico at 57 kg. Cowboy RTC developmental coach Zoheir El Ouarraqe and OSU assistant Tyler Caldwell will both be on the United State’s coaching staff, as well.
The Pan American Championships start Thursday and go through Sunday in Monterrey, Mexico. The men’s freestyle portion of the event will take place Saturday and Sunday.
The 2025 Senior Pan American Championships is part of the UWW Ranking Series, which is used to determine seeds for the Olympic Games, the Senior World Championships and the Senior Continental Championships, and also determines the UWW Best Athlete of the Year awards.
The event will be streamed on Flo.
