Cowgirl Hoops: OSU Picked Fourth in Preseason Poll, Heard a Unanimous All-Big 12 Selection

The Cowgirls are expected to compete with the Big 12’s best this season.

The Big 12 released its preseason honors for the upcoming women’s basketball season on Thursday, where Oklahoma State was well represented.

OSU came in fourth in the preseason poll, receiving a pair of first-place votes. The Cowgirls were behind only TCU, Iowa State and Baylor.

Junior Stailee Heard was also a unanimous selection to the preseason All-Big 12 team.

This marks the Cowgirls’ fourth season under coach Jacie Hoyt. OSU has made the NCAA Tournament in two of Hoyt’s three seasons, including last year where the Cowgirls finished 25-7.

Heard, out of Sapulpa, was an All-America honorable mention last season as well as an All-Big 12 First Team selection. She averaged 16.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals a game as a sophomore.
