The Cowgirl soccer team pulled off a massive upset on Sunday by defeating No. 4 Florida in dramatic fashion.

Marlo Zoller knocked in a goal in the 103rd minute to walk it off in double overtime. It’s OSU’s first win over a Top 5 team since Oct. 14, 2007, when it defeated fifth-ranked Missouri in overtime.

“That Florida team is great – the way the move the ball is phenomenal. All I can say is we beat a very good team today,” said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael. “I honestly thought our kids deserved it. I thought we had the best chances. Florida had a lot of possession, which is their m.o. and it’s what they’re really good at, but when it came to chances, we had the better go.

“I told the girls that proud is an understatement. This group works so, so hard, and they got rewarded for it.”

Oklahoma State owned a 15-8 advantage in shots during the match. Florida, meanwhile, held a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks. The game ended 1-0.

With the win, Oklahoma State, currently ranked No. 19 nationally, moves to 3-0 on the season and a perfect 2-0 in its new Neal Patterson Stadium that also features a Bedlam win. The Cowgirls are back in action Friday, Aug. 31, when they travel to Champaign, Illinois to face the University of Illinois.
