Live Pod

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to COOP Ale Works for our live pod. We had a blast meeting you guys and talking to Paul Duren and Charlie Johnson. Sorry for the audio issues. We’re still getting the kinks worked out (it’s early in the season, we love the game et al.)

Football News

The President on hot days: “Me coming from central Texas, it was like 105 (degrees) at our two-a-days when I was in high school. Our first three games are going to be midday, it will maybe be 100 or something on the turf. So I think this is good for us.” [NewsOK]

Josiah Meints, back! This on how Baylor should cover its entire stadium in a tarp is pretty funny. [PFB]

OKC Dave gets a shout from Berry Tramel which is great. [NewsOK]

Could OSU actually run the table? [PFB]

Gundy: “There’s more pressure on me now with the hair than with the O-line. There’s pressure on my stylist.” I can’t wait until he says, “My stylist loves her family, loves to cut hair, does all the right things.” [NewsOK]

The other Neill Armstrong passes away. [NewsOK]

Robert Allen on other freshmen who could play besides Dillon Stoner: “The others are Tyrell Alexander of Lancaster, Texas and the walk-on receiver Obi Obialo from Coppell, Texas. Running back Justice Hill is another possibility and so is cornerback Madre Harper, who was with the team for spring football.” [Go Pokes]

Mike Gundy compares Jalen McCleskey to a horse: “Well, he is a good player. It is like anything else, horse racing and whatever. The history says that if their pedigree is good, then there’s a good chance that that can continue during their career here.” [Go Pokes — $]

OSU-LSU in the Sugar Bowl would make me giddy. [PFB]

Funny moment at the Cowboy Caravan in Tulsa on Thursday: “When you turn 50, then that means you’ll be a man,” said Reece to an explosion of laughter before the crowd serenaded Gundy with a rendition of happy birthday. [Tulsa World]

Brandon Chatmon on Mason Rudolph’s Heisman chances: “Rudolph performed like a Heisman candidate at times a year ago; he played a central role in wins over TCU and Kansas State, and he finished with 3,770 passing yards and 21 passing touchdowns. Yet at other times he performed like a sophomore in his first year as a starter, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns in subpar performances against Texas and West Virginia. A year of starting experience could make Rudolph a more lethal and consistent passer, while the experience around him should help Oklahoma State win enough games to give Rudolph the opportunity to create some Heisman moments.” [ESPN]

Great post here on a walk-on DE who has had three (!) heart surgeries. [PFB]

Top five features of the new uniforms. [PFB]

Recruiting News

Former five-star WR who had OSU on his final list is transferring from LSU. [PFB]

Chuba Hubbard tweeted about other schools the other day which seems at least mildly disconcerting. [PFB]

Hoops News

Berry Tramel says you shouldn’t boo KD upon his return. I would agree. [NewsOK]

Olympic Golf

Rickie Fowler was pretty disappointing in his Olympics debut on Thursday. [CBS]
