Don’t pencil him in as the All-Big 12 quarterback; Oklahoma State, as in 2015, may hit a rough patch in November. But the first month of the season will give the junior quarterback an opportunity to thrive and to stand out among a great class of league QBs. Rudolph, with a revamped running game to complement his play, will carry momentum from a big effort against Pitt into Baylor, leading OSU to a shootout win in the league opener for both teams. [ESPN]

Mike Gundy likes home openers. Mike Holder doesn’t care. “You’re either going to play six home games or seven home games every year, so what difference does it make if you open at home? (Alabama coach) Nick Saban is never going to get to open at home. That guy plays a neutral-site (opener) every year. He seems to do all right.” [Tulsa World]

Mike Yurcich on BJS: “Barry has done a real nice job of some tough runs. Coming out of our end zone, I can recall a couple scrimmages back, it was one-on-one with him and a safety … He put his shoulder down and blew right through him and got the first down for us. The tough yards are there.” [Go Pokes – $]
Southeastern Louisiana did not play football from 1986-2002. Since bringing it back, it is 0-20 against FBS foes. In three meetings vs. Big 12 teams during that span, the Lions have been outscored 162-17. [Tulsa World]
