• Drew Mestemaker is appearing in way-too-early mock drafts – clearly one of the top-five quarterbacks for the 2027 class (PFB + PFF)
• Mike Gundy came on Collin Cowherd’s show yesterday – talked about the best player he ever coached against (X)

• Short but insightful piece on how OSU landed Drew Mestemaker – easily the most influential transfer portal add in program history.
Teams began circling Mestemaker early in the 2025 season. Multiple Power Four programs messaged CBS Sports in Week 2, gushing over Mestemaker’s tape. Early on, it was programs like UCF that were most interested. By midseason, those like LSU began to circle the redshirt freshman quarterback. By mid-December, Indiana and Oregon, among others, were extremely interested in Mestemaker. But the reality is Oklahoma State loomed as the favorite when Mestemaker announced his decision to enter the portal on Dec. 29. [CBS Sports]
• Gosh, it would be fun for the Pokes to land Dez Bryant’s son (Rivals)
• This was a super helpful explainer on the Big 12’s new private capital deal announced earlier this week:
It’s easy to get private capital and private equity confused, but they’re not exactly the same thing, and the differences are pretty important in this specific example. The Big 12, and Big 12 member institutions, aren’t actually giving up any equity, ownership or direct control to RedBird or any other institutional investor. Think of this as a relationship much closer to a loan than say, selling an ownership stake. [ExtraPoints]
Non-OSU Bullets
• Wow – the Denver Nuggets got knocked out in the first round of the playoffs, what a help for the Thunder
• The more I look at the lottery reform proposal, the fewer holes it has in it.
