I am headed to Stillwater this morning. Carson and I are doing a live podcast on Saturday night between 7-7:30 p.m. (depending on what time he can hustle over there). We will be at Hideaway with David Glidden. Everyone should come out!

Football News

Berry Tramel on Big 12 parity: “That’s outstanding parity and would be exalted if not for the Big 12’s other problems, from dysfunction in the board room to dysfunction in defensive secondaries.” [NewsOK]

Of Mike Gundy’s 99 wins, which was the most important? [PFB]

Vincent Taylor’s dad on his son’s upbringing: “It was pretty rough for Vincent. He got labeled as a refugee; he got teased for that. He was a big kid, too, and other kids challenged him. From elementary school to middle school, it was very difficult and hard for my son.” [ESPN]

Gundy on college football: “They’re going to blink and this will be gone. Most of us that are coaches would love to go back and do it again. It’s like anything else in life. You don’t enjoy it until it’s too late. And I try to stress that to them. Things that are important. Your preparation through the week, what you can control.” [Tulsa World]

Mason Rudolph on the WVU defense: “I think they’re good at what they do. We prepared a lot for that this spring and have a lot of stuff on tape we’re going to install.” [NewsOK]

Rudolph on getting The President the rock: “[Bracket coverage has] been happening all year and he still gets production. We’ve got to find better ways to get him the ball and we will.” [Tulsa World]

This is awesome. From Gundy: “Eddie told me a long time ago, ‘Mike, you’d better have thick skin to be a head coach. It had better be really thick if you’re gonna be the coach at OSU.’ He said, ‘Ultimately people grade success by wins and losses, and if you’re at Oklahoma State it’s not always easy to win. So you’d better believe in yourself and you’d better have thick skin.’” [Tulsa World]

Mike Yurcich on WVU’s defense: “They’re a unique defense in that they can drop eight defenders and then also play eight-man front football. So they’re very unique in their style. They create some challenges for you offensively, and it’s a challenge that we’re very eager to meet this week.” [NewsOK]

Get hype.
