Football News
I wrote about Colin Kaepernick on Thursday. [PFB]
Berry Tramel on how the officials from the OSU-CMU game will wear a scarlet letter: “And the result is that officiating in general suffered a black eye, MAC officiating took a hit on its reputation that will be hard to ever restore, and an officiating crew has lost its greatest attribute, the respect of its peers.” [NewsOK]
It may not sound right after last Saturday, but it’s true: Oklahoma State’s offense has been fortunate in its first two games. The Cowboys have had the best average field position of any team in the country. [Tulsa World]
Wow, I didn’t know Motekiai Maile’s dad died recently. [okstate]
Deion Imade: “Mike Tyson once said ‘everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.’ Well the Cowboys just got sucker punched in the gut, but I have faith that they will come out of their corner swinging.” [Go Pokes – $]
Throwback Thursday — remember when our run game rocked? [PFB]
Yurcich on Mason Rudolph: “Whether Rudolph had too many plays going through his brain, minimizing the menu and getting him squared away is my job and I failed to do that. I’ll take the blame for that. I needed to help him out with more of a ground game. I failed to do that. I short-changed him and probably asked him to do too much, obviously.” [Tulsa World]
Impressive.
#OKstate football season ticket sales as of today: 47,024.

Good stuff here on Devante Averette.
Pitt Study
Get to know Pitt. Great Q&A here with a Pitt writer. [PFB]
Oklahoma State has a better chance of beating Pittsburgh than Houston did of beating Cincinnati on Thursday. If you trust advanced stats. [Football Study Hall]
Love Gundy here: What’s $12K to make the stadium look cool?? [NewsOK]
Glenn Spencer on Pitt: “To be honest with you, what Pitt does running the ball, they make your corners tackle, your linebackers have to scrape and insert with some force. If we should be fortunate enough and play well against the run this week, it’s going to be a lot more than those four guys in the middle, trust me.” [Tulsa World]
Pat Narduzzi has a 24-hour rule when it comes to celebrating Ws: “There’s a 24-hour rule. You can have fun Saturday night and wake up in the morning with a smile. When they came in here at 4 o’clock on Sunday, they came in to work. It’s game on again, and we started the next week.” [NewsOK]
Berry picks Ohio State and Pitt. [NewsOK]
How to beat Pitt: The safest play for a defense is probably to load the box and force Pitt to pass. In particular, try to make the Panthers beat you deep. They have arguably the best offensive line in the ACC, and they have a plethora of all-league-caliber backs. But while Nate Peterman has been nothing if not efficient — he completed 11 of 15 passes against Penn State and even ran for 52 yards himself — the Pitt quarterback threw for just 91 yards. Only three people made catches against PSU, and only one of them was a wide receiver, as Pitt continues to search for other reliable passing-game options after Tyler Boyd’s departure for the NFL. [ESPN]
A fan on striping the stadium this weekend: “I’m not sure if it will look good or not. I think the idea is a good idea. I’m just not sure how it’s going to work out on game day. People tend to leave the game, and then I’m afraid, especially after last week, that people won’t show and all of the chair backs are orange anyways.” [O’Colly]
Around the League
Probably don’t want your backup QB telling anyone the guy in front of him is going to “light up” a team that has never lost on the road under its current coach. [11W]
This was so good.
Headed to Norman tomorrow. Haven't been back since I was treated to Applebee's on my recruiting trip in 2000

Also Trump-OU-Ohio jokes seem like they would be easy. It took me far too long to think of a mildly-above-average one.
OU should embrace Trump this weekend. Both will talk for years about how different 2016 would have looked if not for the state of Ohio.

Ryder Cup
So … somebody wrote about Big Cat being a captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup which is insane … right?! [Medium]
Pokes in the pros
Dez on facing Josh Norman: Asked this week about facing Norman on Sunday, Bryant said, “I can’t wait.” He went on to say, “He has earned his respect in this league. When you go up against a guy like that, you’re going to have to bring your best because if you don’t, he’ll get the best of you.” [Washington Post]
